Assessment Techniques

Cardio Pulse Wave Technology:

Up until now, the only non-invasive (and inexpensive) way to monitor your cardiovascular health has been to monitor your blood pressure on the arm.  Unfortunately, this is not a very effective way to predict your cardiovascular risk.  Much of the time, atherosclerosis (also known as hardening of the arteries) goes undetected until the patient suffers an event…often catastrophic…such as stroke or heart attack.  Often, it is only after those events occur that more invasive procedures (such as angiograms, which carry their own risks) are done to get more information regarding the extent and location of the blockage in blood flow.

We are very excited to offer a new screening procedure called Cardio Pulse Wave technology.  It’s a simple, non-invasive, and inexpensive test that takes 10 minutes to perform.  In a huge clinical study that was published in October of 2010, with more than 2,000 patients that were tested at the exact same time that an angiogram was also being performed, this technology proved to be 99.17% accurate in predicting the blood pressure at the heart.  This is extremely important, because while blood pressure at the arm is not a very good predictor of cardiovascular risk, the blood pressure at the heart (known as CASP or Central Aortic Systolic Pressure) is an excellent predictor of the risk of suffering a stroke or heart attack.

We can test your CASP at either office!

Functional Laboratory Assessments

We provide our clients with the most comprehensive and functional nutrition assessments available today. We identify the key areas of weakness in their diets and lifestyles and make lasting changes. There is such a universal need for more accurate assessments that the doctor and the patient can use to objectively evaluate their progress. We use the largest accredited laboratories within the USA to evaluate blood, saliva, stool, and hair.

Gait Analysis and Orthotics

Do you suffer from bunions, painful calluses, hammer toes, metatarsalgia, spurs, plantar fascitis, painful feet and ankles, knee pain? If you are exerting pressure in the wrong place, a bio-mechanical problem exists. Our doctors are well trained in analyzing your feet and then taking the proper steps to correct the problem. This information is then used to prescribe for you a pair of individualized, custom orthotics that are specific to your feet and needs. Properly fitting orthotics can correct bio-mechanical faults in your feet, legs, knees, hips or back.  www.theorthoticgroup.com

Applied Kinesiology

Applied kinesiology is a system to evaluate body function by muscle testing. Its benefits include allowing the physician additional diagnostic procedures to narrow down the problem and restore normal body function.

Body Composition Analysis

Body composition analysis is a very important test that can provide much insight into how effectively your body is responding to the therapies in which you are engaged. To see an ABC News video describing this process click here.

This simple and safe test provides vital information and critical distinctions that can allow for a more comprehensive assessment of health status. It can help define the need for diet, exercise and lifestyle modifications and for specific strategies for metabolic improvement.

Body composition analysis provides a measurement of percent body fat, lean muscle mass, fat mass, fluid balance and cell membrane health. These parameters of body composition are critical biomarkers that can be used to determine how successfully you are moving through the aging process.

Computerized Blood Chemistry Program

Blood Nutritional System

Computerized Blood Chemistry provides an understanding of nutritional information based on lab reports. Once the values are input, the program compares them to healthy values and correlates the blood components for an accurate assessment of nutritional needs. The program lists recommended products and a description of the recommended products. It is a valuable teaching tool to help understand blood. Memory Loss – Mild Cognitive Impairment

Are you worried about your brain and its function? We know that good health has many dimensions, one of the most important and yet least measured is the health of a patient’s brain. Now with the advent of CNS Vital Signs™, we have an easy-to-use clinical tool that measures neurocognitive functions, such as Memory, Reaction Time, Psychomotor Speed, Complex Attention, and Cognitive Flexibility. Proper neurocognitive function is a major factor in determining a person’s quality of life. Neurocognitive testing helps clinicians and researchers evaluate the health of these higher functions of the brain. The brain and central nervous system (CNS) have “vital signs,” but they have never been easy to objectively measure, until now. Detect early signs of dementia or objectively assess ADD/ADHD. This is a simple computer based program that is taken in the office. It takes 30 minutes to an hour.
